A blockchain is an evolving list of cryptographically linked archives, or blocks. These blocks include operation information, a time note, and a cryptographic hash of the previous block. A blockchain is essentially a publicly distributed ledger that can efficiently record transactions between two parties in a verifiable and permanent manner, and it is resistant to data tampering. The blockchain, which is maintained by a peer-to-peer network that cooperatively adheres to a methodical protocol for inter-node communication and authenticating newly added blocks, contains data that cannot be changed backwards without rewriting all subsequent blocks, which necessitates the confirmed agreement of all network participants.
