I have been providing quality driving education for the past 12 years.

Especially in some of the scenic rural areas where just having a car will be a pure joy.

You can renew your learner permit online if you have a PSC and a verified MyGovID account.

Before driving on a public road, you must hold a learner permit appropriate to the category of bus or truck you wish to drive.

Turning 18 was not the green light to drive that I anticipated.

If found to be driving alone by  the Gardai one may be fined or, since December 2014, have penalty points put on their Learner Permit.

It is 12 months since I took my first driving lesson and while I am not yet authorised a licence, I must be at the very least, deserving of a certificate verifying my patience.

We perceive it as another rite of passage on the route to being a “real” grownup.

It’s not the first time I’ve had this question and it won’t be the last.

Driving on the left is really no big deal but there is a learning curve to be negotiated.
